Master of Arts in Development Studies (M.A. (DS)) by Coursework and Dissertation
This is a full-time programme lasting for eighteen calendar months. The first twelve months are used for coursework (related assignments and examinations) and the remaining nine months are used for field research which includes formulation of an acceptable research proposal, fieldwork and writing of dissertation.
Admission Requirements
A lower second class bachelor’s degree from the University of Dar es Salaam or its equivalent from any recognised University or institution of higher learning.Core Courses

Doctor of Philosophy in Development Studies - PhD (DS)
The Institute offers the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Development Studies. The programme is research centred and thesis based. Being an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary institute, it considers admissions of applicants who have a Masters degree in Social Sciences, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Health and Agriculture etc.
